Feeding Our Future is a summer lunch program for children at risk of hunger, and it is one of the three child hunger programs under our Food 4 Keiki umbrella.
During the summer of 2018, Hawaii Foodbank worked with Boys & Girls Club Honolulu, Institute of Human Services, Catholic Charities Hawaii’s Family Assessment Center, Mutual Housing, and Princess Kaiulani Elementary School (also a current Food 4 Keiki Backpack partner) to distribute summer lunches to children in need. Each day of the program, our food partner agencies send a staff member or volunteer to the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa campus to pick up the food, beverages, and supplies for that day’s hot lunch meal. On any excursion days, a bag lunch is prepared for the applicable program, rather than a hot lunch.
Last year, Feeding Our Future provided more than 11,000 keiki summer lunches.
